Founded on a shared passion for aviation, adventure, family, and authentic lifestyle culture, AV8IR Gear represents more than apparel — it’s a reflection of the people and experiences behind the brand.
Chad Wenzel grew up surrounded by construction sites, aircraft stories, and generations of hard work and service. Aviation was never just a hobby for him — it was part of his foundation. He is the son of James C. Wenzel Jr., a decorated United States Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran and Purple Heart recipient whose grit, discipline, and no-excuses mentality helped shape Chad’s approach to both business and life. His grandfather, James C. Wenzel Sr., served as a Navigator in the Army Air Corps before later becoming a B-29 Captain in the newly formed United States Air Force, continuing a proud family legacy rooted deeply in aviation and service to country.
Today, Chad combines that lifelong passion for aviation with decades of executive leadership experience in business and aviation technology. He currently serves as Chief Revenue Officer of, an aviation technology company focused on aircraft asset intelligence, maintenance visibility, and operational efficiency across the aviation industry. Chad is also a Private Pilot and former owner/operator of a South Florida flight club, where he combined his love for flying, mentorship, and aviation community. His aviation training includes attendance at as well as coursework through’s Aviation Program.
Alongside Chad is Heather — his best friend, partner, biggest supporter, and the heart behind much of the AV8IR lifestyle vision. A proud mother to Hartley and former Atlanta Falcons Cheerleader, Heather brings energy, creativity, style, beauty and warmth to everything they build together. Their shared love for aviation, travel, fine dining, adventure, and making memories inspired them to create AV8IR Gear as a brand for people who appreciate freedom, hard work, good company, and the aviation lifestyle Together, Chad and Heather believe life is meant to be lived fully — whether that’s chasing sunsets from a cockpit, gathering with friends around an firepit, or simply appreciating the journey along the way.
